Éirígí support Palestinian demonstration

The Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign have organised a march to coincide with the fortieth anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Anti-War Case Adjourned

The case of two éirígí members who face charges related to the recent visit of British war-criminal Tony Blair to Ireland was adjourned in a Belfast court yesterday (Wednesday).

Blair's legacy

In an essay in the economist, Tony Blair reflects on the lessons he has learned as prime minister.  He insists on placing the war in Iraq in the same category as those in Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, and Kosovo.  They were, he tells us, underpinned by a policy of intervention that is values-based.  But Iraq was never about values, it was about security and weapons of mass destruction.  Sadly for Mr Blair, he cannot re-write history to tidy up his legacy.

Higgins for Seanad

I was sorry to hear that Joe Higgins had lost his seat. Even if one disagrees with his political views, one cannot deny that he was a committed parliamentarian and devoted to the plight of the disadvantaged.

HANDS OFF OUR POST OFFICE - Protest outside GPO

The European Commission proposes to liberalise all Postal Markets in January 2009, which means opening them up to competition which may have adverse repercussions for the safety of our jobs. Postal Services throughout Europe are calling for safeguards to be put in place to protect our postal business. A European wide protest has been organised for 1-2pm on Wednesday 6th June which will see demonstrations at ALL Major European Post Offices.
