Topic: Change in Irish society.
Panellists: Bishop Willie Walsh, Ger Loughnane, John McGuinness, Mike Cronin and Fiona Looney.
Irish society used to be propped up by The Church, the GAA and Fianna Fail - which one is still standing?
Thats typical of bishop walsh full of forgiveness for a paedophile

That Murphy creep should be shot dead. The death penalty should be reintroduced for very heinous sex crimes. I'm glad I don't have any daughters. This evil man should be murdered.

Would Ger Loughane manage the Cork hurlers

excellent. This kind of discussion is what people want to engage in. You look forward to it at the end of the day. Like the late, late years ago. Congrats.
Jack, waterford.

The Church & T.Ds should have Community meetings in every parish every 6 weeks or so, to hear the concerns of the people. A lot could be learned.
***
Ask Jon Mc'Guinness what he has to offer Carlow people if he is going to stand by and watch St lukes go into crap, worse than it is? As 4 willie walsh, he would be great here in Carlow as we don't have a single person to represent us.

It's time for the Church to go. Any church that scared its followers or tried to tell us that God will punish us is not what God is all about . God loves us and would never hurt or scare us.

Just switched to other station, cannot stomach arrogant presenter.
Ted, wexford

Will the handsome Kevin Myers be presenting the programme again?
A Kilkenny viewer!

John mac guinness we depend on you to keep our St. Luke hospital open. We have a caring staff in this hospital. Something sadly lost.
Anne, KILKENNY

The usual church bashing - it has damaged society. For the wrong doing of a few, all the good priests are being harmed.

Ger, you must remember that clerical abusers will not include anyone who is not of the same mind and so many clerics would possibly not have been fully aware of the abuse.

I am a woman aged 63 years. I have just defected from RC church. The sense of peace and loss of anger is sublime.
Bernice

Well done to you. asking the questions we all want to ask. Good show tonight, too much ducking and diving by some presenters on that programme all part of golden circle which has contributed to present corruption that has ruined this country. Church and state.
Anne Ryan, KILKENNY

He is wrong - I'm an Englishman living in Ireland - what I witness is non-believers doing confirmations and first communions against their better judgement as they fear the isolation of their child by both teacher and fellow pupils- how does this fit with the panels comments?
***
Far be it from me to defend the RC church but Mr Colleran is rather unfair to Bishop Walsh, like barking up the wrong tree.
Ned

Dont ever think FF are finished. How could any country put Enda Kenny as Taoiseach on the international stage we would be laughed at.
***
Can you ask ger why it took so long to get rid of the ban.
Con Foley, Macroom
***
I think Ger Colleran should leave presenting to the professionals, he hasn't a clue, his attack on Glenda Gilsen last nite was appalling, she's not responsible for what her uncle does,it was a cheap shot, stick to the day job whatever that is.
Kate, Clontarf

A vote for Fianna Fail is a clear sign of Insanity.
***
Fianna Fail have devastated this country, which is now on the cusp of a revolution. Let's hope it's not bloody. GAA is irrelevant.
***
Politics is a great place for a crook 2 hide. just like paedofiles hiding in the religious orders. Just as swindlers hide in and behind the LAW. AS TRUTH TWISTERS LOVE HIDING IN THE MEDIA.

Hi Ger. I have never heard such conservative rubbish in all my life. The Catholic church was the worst thing that ever happened to Ireland.

A change of government is desirable a change of system is essential.
***
Bishop Walsh should be primate.
***
No women on the panel tonight...reflective of the male dominated institutions that are the FF party, GAA & the Catholic Church. Maybe that's why two have crumbled and the third (GAA) is becoming more out of touch from ordinary people (i.e. their high ticket prices in recessionary times)!
A disgruntled woman viewer in Cork!

What alliance is Willie Walsh referring to? It was disgusting subservience which the church used for it's own disgraceful gratification.

Hello Ger, about 30 yearrs ago a neighbour of mine was waiting for the creamery truck to come and he met another neighbour on a push bike going to the bog he was in bad form weather bad, no hay saved, he said "ah a stor your wasting your time in this country unless your in with fianna fail ,udaras na gaeltachta , the g a a , or the catholic church " heard this story many times down the years never thought i would hear it discussed on tonight with Vincent Browne !!!

The GAA is still standing due to land swapping, a vast amount of land through-out the island of Ireland. Ask them how they got it. Property speculation. Pub lincences attached to almost every club built beside housing estates. Funding on a vast scale from Fianna Fail. Vast amount's of money from the national lottery fund. Check out the nat. Lottery fund for last year and previous year's on the lottery website. They should be investigated on the basis of money for votes from fianna fail.

Can u imagine having a business where you dont have to pay your workers who make you a fortune, that is the g.a.a. The church founded on guilt and hyprocisy. Fianna Fail, Corruption and Greed .Three bodies i cannot be proud of.

Why only one gender on the panel so far?

Why is no one discussing the reason we are so much in hock to Anglo (Irish) now. There has to be a big bank out there maybe i.m.f. , e.c.b. Or some other huge bank that are calling the shots, whom anglo etc. are borrowed from. Is the reason for the tax payer paying this crazy amount of money, due to my belief a gun is being held to Irelands head, that if we dont toe the line this outside bank will pull the rug from under us and our great leaders know we will become a bottomless economy immediately. Me thinks thats the case.
John, Letterkenny.

Great programme, but why does it have to be on so late? Why not start at 10 pm to rival primetime on RTE.
