Tonight panellists, 27 January 2010

Tonight's show will look at the American presence in Haiti following the crisis and asks whether it is helping or hindering aid. Joining Vincent on the panel are:

Ger Gilroy is a reporter and presenter for Newstalk whose frontline coverage of the Haiti crisis earned praise from the Irish Times. Gilroy has just recently returned from Haiti, saying medical conditions there were akin to the Crimean War. He wrote a article on his experiencesin the Evening Herald recently.

Deirdre Grant works for the Haiti-based house building charity Haven. Haven is the only Irish NGO which is operating solely in Haiti and has been a part of the emergency response since the earthquake hit two weeks ago. In the longer term, Haven will be involved in the rebuilding of the homes of the thousands made homeless by the recent earthquake.

Mike Williams is the head of the international department at Trócaire. Williams has co-ordinated Trócaire's efforts in areas as diverse as Burma and Gaza and his experiences are certain to provide a valuable insight into the current situation in Haiti. Currently Trócaire are on the ground in Haiti, giving aid to thousands of people in need.
