according to the bankers we have to pay them more or they will go elsewhere. The minister says we cant increase the taxes on them or they will go elsewhere. Its simple - half their salaries and bring in a third higher tax band, and hopefully they will go on elsewhere! James from mayo

Why on earth would Dr Michael Somers, who seems a man of honour, and is not a young person, let his good name be linked to an institution like AIB. He has integrity which is now tainted by association. He should retreat while he is ahead. Martha

Nobody would dispute that Brian Cowen has been a useless failure since he slid into office - so surely him spending €1.4 million on advisors on top of his obscene salary & while he's bringing in cuts that will kill sick people is the biggest scandal we've seen yet. Brian Hopkins, Dublin
