Topc: The banking crisis

Panellists: Peter Matthews, Joan Burton, Ronan Reid and Brian Lucey

George Lee will be remembered as the glamour boy who ran away when he didnt get his way unlike the free reign enjoyed in r t e.Maybe he will now display virtues which have been sadly lacking with George to date humility and respect for others if his bloated ego will allow him.

It's my party and i'll leave if i want 2! By george what a petulant little man.
Ger moore, Dingle

It's all well and good for George to decide not to play politics anymore but has he considered how much the bye-election is going to cost us.
Eddie in Westmeath.

Irish politics and business are too parochial. George Lee was too nice and too honest for the dirty game of politics.
Mary, Co. Meath

I understand that 2 senators can be appointed as ministers. This would be a good way to get some of the best business people in the country into senior roles such as Michael M Leary or Dermot Desmond. By the way we in Dublin South had to wait a year without representation for last by election, will it be same again?
Seamus, Rathfarnham

didnt brian Lucey say a few years ago the banks should lend more mortgages to people with less than good credit as the market looks good for the future ? And now he's on the moral high ground re nama ? Hippocrite.

Opposition politicians and economists are recklessy promoting full nationalisation not realising that it will have an even greater devestating effect on our economy. We need aib and boi to be nationalised as a last resort and not for petty political motivations.

the media know well that mumblings about leaders in the two large parties is expected, you can't expect all deputies to agree with who would be the best leader.unity at a l l costs is the fianna fail moto and we now know what this has cost us.

George wanted to change the system but the politions dont want change fìanna fail and the builders were running the country now the banks run the country

where are the jobs coming from ? They all talk the talk but it appears hot air 2 anyone with a brain. Mr lee obviously saw this firsthand and was shocked at the lack of direct action. Its sickening 2 see mr lee being ridiculed. When the i.m.f. Moves in we wont b sniggering then

we have the most corrupt government, in europe aided and abetted by the opposition.

George Lee was elected 4 his ability & enthusiasm. That was a huge challenge 2 Enda Kenny & Richard Bruton &therefore, he had 2 b sidlined. Appointing him chairman of anything, tied his hands. George got out rather than play the game. Well done George.

Enda Kenny has promised to be more like himsef. Now there's a thought to send a shiver down the spine of every voter!
John, Tipperary

Kenny has played a blinder for FG. Why do people expect so much more from the leader of the opposition than they do from the Taoiseach. Tom in Dublin

even regarding George Lee's impatient resignation, i believe there is an agenda where a certain leftwing rump in the media + among various pressure groups want 2 get rid of Enda Kenny. He is 2 decent 4 them. Enda Kenny is the best leader of Fine Gael 4 years. Ud need 2 b a psyciatrist 2 cope with rude hyperactive bold schoolboy twittery mean minded Tubridy whn stil cant 4get Gordon Ramsey was able 4 him.
