Topic: Trevor Sargent’s Resignation.

Panellists: James Reilly (FG), Timmy Dooley (FF), Pat Rabbitte and Niamh Connolly (SBP).

It was a green leak and it smells of compost, somebody got into trevors drawers and took copies of the file copies...tut tut.

***

Fianna Fail have to be on the way out after Dermot Ahern’s unforgettable display last week we want the truth about the leaks forget about jobs they won’t solve that one.

Marie Shortall.

***

Timmy Dooley doesn't care about jobs as he has shown at Shannon airport numerous times and presently with Ryanair. When will he resign?

***

Why didn't you leave the rest of the panel at home and then you could badger that young FF TD to your heart's content. Balance how are ye!

***

The only reason Trevor resigned is because he got caught. Contrary to what the Panel are saying, there's absolutely no honour in that.

Tommy, Galway.

***

The low paid and poor were targeted because Fianna Fail are irretrievably right wing and the greens, as we know , have no bottom line and have sold out their principles .

Mike, Wexford.

***

What the heck is going on in our parliament? The circus of distractions continues day after day. When are the real issues going to be addressed? There are people in our country without jobs, money, food, electricity etc. I say to you to start highlighting the important points which relate to real people. We are out here and getting more and more angry by the day. Revolution is coming!

Pat, Cork.

Stop praising Mr. Sargent .How can u say Trevor Sargent did the right thing today when he only mentioned what he did was wrong today after keeping quiet about it for over 2 years and now today after a paper article he admits his wrong..he sat on his wrongdoing for over 2years and kept quiet about it until it was exposed that’s not right for a man of high principles as your panel are saying.

Owen, Clare.

***

Political retirements: Lee ‘you ignored me’, De Burca ‘you did not appoint me’, O Dea ‘you boyled me’, Seargant ‘you got me’!

Joe, Patrick Street.

***

I am born and bred F.F, grandfather a founder member of F.F in Clare and will canvas against F.F. in the General Election. Appalling inheritors of a political tradition. Tim Dooley is full of empty rhetoric and devoid of fibre.

Sean B.

***

Am I right in saying he resigned his ministerial position and not as a td? Why oh why do we believe that this is commendable. Surely he should be gone altogether?

***

With a bit me luck this tit for tat game will last untill they are all gone. Roll on general election. Also I thought that once somebody left that they would not be replaced. Why was Deidre de Burcha replaced ?

Eve, Louth.

***

Trevor 'can't carry on'. Sargent had to go. His judgement was incredibly flawed for someone who always occupied the high moral ground. No kudos necessary for his resignation.

Sean, Enniscorthy.

***

The Greens have now recovered some much needed credibility, both for themselves, and indeed, for Irish politics in general, over the past number of very eventful days. For the sake of the country and for their own political future, it's now time for them to follow Sargent's dignified and honourable example and pull the plug on this dreadful and shambolic government.

Tom, D14.

***

By using government headed paper, clearly he was not hiding anything, this letter turns up 2 years later, come on give me a break ! He is to honest for his own good. Hardly a hanging offence.

***

Since when did perjury become a 'trivial matter'? It's a serious crime and trivialising it is morally indefensible.

Johnny, Cork.

***

Does it matter who put this out there? What he did was wrong and for that he had to go, and if people had this information why is it only coming out now??

Alan Scully.

***

Is Brian really going to replace the ministers who have recently resigned? Surely he should fall him line with the government cut backs and not replace people who leave their posts.

***

Should the politicians who interfered with planning permission here in Mayo for years not have to give up their nice number or those who secure beds in hospitals for friends while some other creature hangs on until his name comes up? Corruption is rife and it’s past time for someone to show the moral fibre needed to start naming names.

Breda, Mayo.
