Topic: the events of the year so far

Guests: Martin Mansergh TD (Minister of State), Pat Rabbitte TD (Labour), Justine McCarthy (The Sunday Times), Medb Ruane (The Irish Independent) and Eoghan Corry.

How can the Government justify the building of new courthouses, when prisons are over packed? If anything would it not make sense to build new prisons?

***

Vincent, Did you bring in Martin to wind him up again before your holidays - Fabulous!

Brian

***

The reason joyriding is such a problem in Donegal is the refuge from the Gardai provided by the border. We need the PSNI and Gardai to cooperate on this.

Joe, Wexford

***

You wouldn’t dare read this out Vincent but the only people to get holidays as long as yours are those in the Dail. ;-)

Jason

***

Did they just round up every Right Winger they could find to cover for you? Roll on 6th Sept!

Elaine, Kilkenny

***

As a member of Mr Mansergh’s constituency (South Tipperary) I would like Vincent to ask him if it is true that he is in favour of the cuts to South Tipperary General Hospital. Thank you.

Seamus, Clonmel

***

VINCENT YOUR HAIRCUT LOOKS MUCH BETTER THAN MARTINS.

KEVIN DEVITTE, WESTPORT

***

The church is the bride and Christ the bridegroom. A woman is not a bridegroom.

Joe, Dublin 3

***

If you kill a man with a gun it's murder. If you kill him with a car it's a accident? Get real.

James, Wexford

***

This latest news from the Vatican is the last straw. Tomorrow I shall post my defection from the catholic church to the bishop of Cork.

Bernice

***

Thank you so much for standing up to the TDs in the past year for the poor people of Ireland. Keep up the good work miss you in the summer.

Susan, Drogheda

***

Vincent. A pity you do not have someone on who knows the reference re Saint Paul. He was a gentile and yes there were pagan priestesses in Greece.

***

No tennis, no World Cup, no Dail, and now no more Vincent Browne, what have I left to shout at on the telly for the rest of me summer??! ;-)

Ger, Cork

***

Catholic church. Simply nuts. Crime for women ordained but not child abuse. Its not surprising but still lot of control in Ireland, ownership of buildings gives a lot of control, so does ownership of education. What is wrong with people for still buying into it? Children doing communion at schools and so little questioning still. People simply must grow up and question.

Gertrude Cotter

***

Get off the case of who should be who regarding women or men priests. Focus on the real deal. Kids being abused and the Vatican changing Mickey mouse rules.

Joe, Dublin

***

Labour will squander its electoral bounce if it goes into coalition with either right-wing parties - FF or FG as happened to it before.

Kieran McNulty, Tralee

***

People who are hostile to travellers and asylum seekers are not weird. I am in that category. I am female, married with children, middle class, well educated and consider myself quite tolerant. I consider the media in this country very liberal and are not representative of many of my views. Often there is a silent majority out there who do not express their views like journalists!

***

I thought some of the parents of the deceased were incredibly forgiving of the young driver, who had a previous conviction for dangerous driving. I cannot help, but think, that, in this country, we are, often, far too tolerant of irresponsible behaviour, and, perhaps, this is part of the reason why these dreadful tragedies occur.

Tom, South Dublin

***

I believe we are out of recession but unemployment is rising. I would rather be in a recession and have a job. I myself am from Donegal: the place the Celtic Tiger missed.

***

There is one and only one answer to stop the road carnage and that is high visibility enforcement by the Gardai which is non-existent at present.

David

***

Why have the bankers who lied to NAMA recently been brought to book! This is the first time Martin Mansergh has been quiet on your programme. He has no excuse.

***

Vincent you sort the problem by dumping out the ones who caused it by their corruption over the many years in power. They cannot tell the truth about anything. I’m talking about the Fianna Failure party. Kick them out and we can start recovery. Watch out as Labour is the future party for Ireland. Fianna Fail is yesterdays men. Ireland needs rid of them asap.
