As a NATO member Greece is obligated to spend at least 2% of GNP on defence.... Hence part of it's problem. It needs to leave NATO.

It's interesting that French and German people are currently hoarding Euro Currency notes that have been issued and printed by their respective Central Banks, as indicated by the serial number on the notes. It's mooted that they are doing this in anticipation of a European monetary breakdown.
