Eco-friendly used to be a by-word for dull and crusty but it seems now it's the new black.
The latest must-have, limited edition handbag with a green message just hit the shelves in Brown Thomas and more than 2,000 handbag enthusiasts queued up to buy it. The “I'm Not a Plastic Bag” bag has been a world-wide hit since it's launch last year, selling out within hours in London, New York and Paris. It's popularity probably lies in the fact that it won't obliterate your bank account - it has been selling at an affordable €12.
According the Anya “the queen of bagland” Hindmarch, the designer behind the bag, the aim of the project is to encourage people not to use plastic bags, by making it fashionable. The bag has been sported by such celebs as Lily Cole, Erin O'Connor and Kiera Knightley giving it the fashion cred that Hindmarch hoped for.
