Information on political career to date:
First elected to Galway County Council at first attempt in 2004 becoming the first FG Councillor in Moycullen ever and the first in the Moycullen-Oughterard area since 1950.

Personal election manifesto:
I am a newly elected Councillor running in a General Election for the first time. I am the youngest candidate in the election and I have worked hard to deliver to my area including major national road plans, a new relief road, playground and plans are afoot for Affordable and Social housing as well as Housing for the elderly. 

Why should voters in your constituency vote for you rather than for other candidates, including candidates representing the political party which you represent?
I believe I am in a unique position as I serve the Connemara electoral area which runs from Clifden on the Atlantic Coast all the way to Galway City. As I live in Moycullen just 7 miles from the City I have seen at first hand the changes to a rural community on the outskirts of a major City. As the youngest candidiate in the election in Galway west I believe I offer a young perspective to issues in the Constituency.

What do you consider to be the main election issues in your constituency?
The main issues in my view are Health concerns, infrastructure and amenities.

Were do you stand in relation to these constituency issues?
I believe that there is no justification for a private hospital on public grounds in UCHG which the Government are attempting to bring in. I believe that closed wards must be staffed to provide beds for people waiting in A & E.

The West has not had the level of funding in road and rail infrastructure that the South and East have had. I believe that the Galway City Outer Bypass needs to be provided ASAP, un-tolled, as it is vital to the economic well being of Connemara. I believe that the rail-link to Dublin needs to be up-graded and the journey timed halved to the Capital. The N59, the only national road in Connemara is in need of massive investment to improve journey times but also just to make the road safe for all drivers and cyclists and tourists.

Areas of pressure around Galway City such as Moycullen, Oranmore, Barna and Claregalway have seen rapid development but amenities are lacking. I believe there needs to be a more proactive relationship between developers, the Community and the Council towards providing amenities. We have, in the County Council introduced developer levies in Oranmore and Communities in Barna are examining this scheme. While the County Council have begun delivering playgrounds (such as Moycullen) there is a longway to go, especially in Connemara which is such a large electoral area.
