9/11 'Truth Movement' bombards Irish authorities
A new "group" calling itself the Irish 9/11 Truth Movement has been bombarding TDs with emails, taking a stand outside the Dáil and being removed from the premises at RTÉ.
The movement was set up earlier this year by Morgan Stack of Tralee, Co Kerry. It claims that 9/11 was an intelligence operation "planned and conducted by very senior elements in the current Bush administration".
Stack has been trying to alert government officials and news organisations to the research that backs their claim over the past few months. In the last two months the group says it has sent more than 1,000 emails to TDs, and prepared 250 information packs that were sent to 166 TDs, 13 MEPs, eight members of the RTÉ Authority and 63 prominent media and other Irish individuals.
The information packs contained material related to the group and a DVD, called "Confronting the Evidence", which the group says shows al Qaida were not responsible for the 9/11 attacks.
They delivered 166 packs to the Dáil, by hand, and were left standing outside with them. In the end officials refused to receive more than five packs. They are now asking the political parties to pay for the postage if they want their party members to receive an information pack.
Stack said they tried to deliver 300 DVDs to RTÉ and were escorted from the RTÉ building by an unnamed woman there. They were asked to leave the premises several times, but continued to hand out the DVDs at the gates of RTÉ. Finally the gardaí were called, he said.
The movement is now seeking an apology from RTÉ for the incident and is requesting that RTÉ TV broadcast the DVD.
Morgan Stack is funding the Irish 9/11 movement by himself. He is the only person working full-time on it but he says he works closely with about 12 people. There are sister "9/11 truth" organisations in the US, Britain and Scotland. He says he is organising a conference in Cork in November called "The New Pearl Harbour: Exploring Conflicting Interpretations of 9/11".
