Website Flips and Flops

Mobile heavyweight Vodafone Ireland with its massive financial clout really has no excuse for the poor redesign of its popular website. Far be it from Village to complain about getting free stuff, but vodafone.ie, complete with free mobile texts, is simply too slow. There seems to be a problem with heavy traffic - it takes more than 30 seconds (we stopped counting) for the homepage to load during the day but this seems to be alleviated in the evening when traffic would be lower.

The texting service itself is poorly redesigned. Alphabetical links to contacts are removed and there is a glitch when trying to send messages if the cursor is still in the text box. So too the email contacts service is poorly navigable.

Entertainment.ie on the other hand, got it right first time. It's a busy page, but easily navigable and offers immediate access to cinema reviews. The website allows profiles to be built where favourite cinemas, theatres and channels can be selected for your news to be prioritised. Unlike Vodafone, Entertainment.ie didn't remove one of it's best attributes - complete listings that can be filtered (in the case of movies) by by county, film, and cinema theatre.
