A list of the violent deaths in Ireland over the past two years, the victims and circumstances of death. 

2006

^Donna Cleary, aged 22, from Coolock, was shot dead in the early hours of 5 March, while attending a party in a private house

^Siobhán Kearney (38) was found by a relative in the bedroom of a house in Goatstown. She was reported to have been strangled

^A 25 year old Latvian man from Riga was stabbed to death in a house in Artane, Dublin, on 15 February

^John Mahon, a father of five, was killed at his house in Fermoy on 12 February. John Collins was charged with his murder

^Dara McCormack, aged 21, was shot dead in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on 11 February, reportedly because he owed a small amount of money to drug dealers

^Mary Keegan killed her two sons, Glen (9) and Andrew (5), and then herself at their home in Firhouse, Dublin over the weekend of 11 February

^Celbridge art student Rebecca Kinsella was found dead at her home on 24 January. A 16 year old boy charged with her murder was remanded in custody in February

2005

^Sam Smith, aged 23, was shot when he answered the front door to his sister's home in Cranmore, Sligo, late on a Friday night at the end of December 2005. GardaÌ said they had identified a local "career criminal" as a chief suspect, and have subsequently detained people for questioning

^Noel Roche, a 27 year old from Crumlin, allegedly involved in drug dealing, was shot from a passing Ford Mondeo car in Clontarf on 15 November

^His younger brother, John Roche, had been shot dead in Kilmainham in Dublin in March 2005

^Gardaí said they believed Noel Roche's murder was in reprisal for the shooting dead in Firhouse on 13 November of Gavin Byrne, aged 30, from Firhouse, and Darren Geoghegan, aged 26, from Drimnagh

^On 5 November, Owen McCarthy, from Clondalkin, was found dead on a Co Wicklow road, shot in the head

^David Nunan, aged 25, from O'Malley Park, Southill, Limerick, was found with gunshot wounds to the back in a country lane in the village of Parteen, Co Clare, on 28 October 2005. He had been released from Limerick prison just days before his murder, having served a sentence for firearms offences

^Mark Glennon, aged 32, was shot dead outside his home in Blanchardstown, reportedly as part of an ongoing feud between rival west Dublin drug gangs, on 7 September

^In April, his brother, Andrew Glennon, aged 30, was shot dead by a gang of men who surrounded his car, in Clonee, Co Meath

^On 18 August, the body of Andrew Dillon, from Finglas in Dublin, was found by a roadside near Ashbourne, Co Meath. He was reported to have been a minor drug dealer

^Eric Cummins, also reported to have been a drug dealer, was killed outside his home in Ballincollig, Cork, on 13 August. He was said to have links with Limerick-based gangs

^Richard Forristal, a 68 year old horse-breeder, was found dead at his home in Carrigavantry Stud, Waterford, on 21 July 2005. Anthony Barnes was recently tried for his murder

^Colm Griffin and Eric Hopkins were shot dead by gardaí as they tried to rob a post office in Lusk on 26 May 2005

^On 14 May 2005, Martin Kenny, aged 22, was shot dead at his girlfriend's home in Ballyfermot, Dublin, in what was reported to be a drug-related murder

^Tony Creed, also reported to be a drug dealer, was shot dead in the bedroom of his home on 27 May 2005

^Mark Byrne, aged 31, was shot dead while on day release from Mountjoy Prison on 5 May 2005. He had convictions for drugs, robbery and assault, and had assaulted another prisoner

^Hughie McGinley, a young Traveller, was shot dead in daylight, as he sat in a parked van on a busy street in Sligo town, on 28 April, reportedly as part of an ongoing feud between two local families

^Terry Dunleavy, reportedly a drug-dealer, was shot dead outside his girlfriend's flat near Croke Park on 14 April 2005

^Joseph Rafferty was shot dead outside his apartment in Ongar, west Dublin, on 12 April 2005. His family has accused a former IRA member of killing him as part of a personal dispute

^Jimmy Curran, a champion kickboxer, was shot in the head while in the Green Lizard pub on Francis St, Dublin, on 3 April 2005

^Raymond Browne, aged 33, was stabbed in his garden in Coolock on 2 April, and died later that night in hospital. There had been a serious of fights that evening after a dispute arose between two groups at a club in the area

^Sheilila Salim (40), otherwise known as Fareh Swaleh Noor, at a flat in Richmond Cottages, Ballybough, Dublin, on or around 20 March

^On 30 March 2005, the dismembered remains of a man were found in the Royal Canal at Ballybough Bridge, Dublin. He was later identified as Sheilila Salim, aged 40, also known as Fareh Swaleh Noor, from Somalia. Two Irish women have been charged with his murder

^Thomas Jordan, aged 49, was killed in a flat in Waterford City centre on 17 March 2005, in what was described as "a frenzied attack". A 29 year old man, Andre Foley, was charged in connection with the incident after going voluntarily to Waterford Garda Station soon after the murder

^John Roche, aged 24, was shot in Kilmainham on 9 March, allegedly as part of a long-running gangland feud

^Brian O'Neill, aged 18, was fatally stabbed during a fight at a house party in Waterford on 13 February 2005

^The body of taxi driver Liam Moloney, aged 56, was found dumped in a field outside Ennis, Co Clare on 12 February 2005. He had been stabbed in his taxi the previous day, and an attempt had been made to burn out the car

^Sean Duffy, aged 36, was found dead at his home on 29 January 2005 with severe head injuries. There was evidence he had been shot with a crossbow and hit with a blunt instrument

^Fergal Landy, aged 27, a chef, was stabbed in his apartment on 24 January. Gardaí were called to the scene and arrested a neighbour, who was charged with Landy's murder

^Thomas Brady, aged 49, was murdered at his home in the Dolphin House flats in Rialto on 19 January 2005, having received several blows to the head. His son Edward Brady was jailed for life for his murder in February 2006

^Robert Holohan, aged 11, was killed by Wayne O'Donoghue in Midleton, Co Cork, on 4 January 2005. O'Donoghue was recently sentenced to four years for manslaughter
