Sean Sherlock, Labour

Sean Sherlock, Labour, Cork East

Cllr. Sherlock learned about local politics from his father, TD Joe Sherlock, as well as from a three year stint assisting Proinsias De Rossa in the European parliament. He has been Deputy Mayor of his native Mallow, and is still only 34. In that job he experienced a steep learning curve and the deep sense of responsibility towards how a town is governed. Sherlock believes that with the devestation of the industrial base in his area, jobs of similar stature need to be created. He forsees small to medium homegrown business rejuvenating the region, supported by investment, aided by the generational shift in politics, which he believes he represents.
