Monday

People's Movement pre-budget protest

'The People’s Movement pre-budget protest will be held on December 6th – the day before the budget. Our protest will commence at the EU Commission offices in Molesworth St at 1:00 on Monday, December 6th, and proceed to the Dáil. Those participating are asked to wear black for the occasion. The demonstration will last for about forty minutes.'

Overnight Vigil

Dublin Sinn Féin is to hold an Eve of Budget overnight vigil at the Dáil, Kildare Street, Dublin 2, from 7pm Monday against the Consensus for Cuts, for the suspension of the Budget and for a general election now. See here.

Tuesday

A Drum, Pot n' Pan Bang - Peaceful Sonic Vigil for Real Democracy


They say: Gather outside the Dail to peacefully bang your pots n' pans! Bring pots, pans and drums on Tuesday 7th December - Budget Day - from 3pm on. But please know, there are no hard and fast rules, go when you can and make some noise! Ideally people would be there from now until Budget Day.

 

1% Network and Workers Solidarity Movement budget protest


From here: 'Tuesday 7th December will see the imposition of yet another vicious budget to protect the wealthy 1% and make the rest of us pay for the crisis. The Workers Solidarity Movement will be joining the 1% network which  will be meeting up at the Wolfe Tone statue at 5.30pm to join the left bloc protest at the Dail at 6.'

'The left bloc * has called a protest rally at the Dail (7th Dec) under the slogan You can’t afford not to Fight Back - The time for action is overdue! It begins at 6pm.

*The left bloc is an ad hoc grouping formed to organize a united left presence for the ICTU demonstration and budget day protests. Those at meetings have included the CPSU activist group, Socialist Democracy, Workers Solidarity Movement, éirigi,, Socialist Party, Workers Party, Cllr. Cieran Perry and other independent socialists.'

Kerry Unites Against Budget Cut Backs

Starting 1pm outside Allied Irish Bank, Tralee. Among the participating organisations are People Before Profit (Tralee), Kerry Network of People with Disabilities, Kerry Public Service Workers' Alliance, Free Education for Everyone (FEE).

March to the Dail on Budget Day

Organised by the Right to Work campaign, the demo starts at 7pm and will make its way from the Garden of Rememberance to Leinster House. They say, "The demo is at 7pm because the Dail sits til 9pm on tuesdays. Also because we want people who work and don't work to all come together and to be there as our politicians leave". Thursday

Walkout Against Fees

Students of Queens University Belfast will march to Belfast City Call; students at NUI Maynooth will protest at the office of Fianna Fail TD Aine Brady. More here.

Save the Minimum Wage Demonstration

Claiming Our Future have called for a demonstration at 1pm outside Dail Eireann to prevent the cut in the minimum wage. See here.

Friday

Spectacle of Defiance

On 10 December a broad range of youth and community groups and other organisations from the wider Dublin area and beyond are coming together to participate in a Radical Spectacle of Community Defiance. The Spectacle will be an Act of Creative Resistance to the programme and regime of cuts that are being imposed on communities all over Ireland and which will be intensified and made much more devastating in Budget 2011. Save the Education Maintenance Allowance

Following a rally at Guildhall Square, Derry on Tuesday, students will stage a walkout on Friday to resist cuts and save the EMA. More information.

Saturday

Protest Against the Budget and the IMF

The Workers Alliance group in Sligo will demonstrate outside the office of Deputy Jimmy Devins following a public meeting on Thursday evening. See here for details.
