Insights into the world of art

Ever wondered what artists' studios look like? Curious to find out? VISIT 2008 is a snapshot of the work of over 150 artists in 15 studio organisations across Dublin on 19 & 20 April.

The studios feature works from across a wide range of media including printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, glass-making, ceramics, video, film, photography, installation and conceptual art.

Throughout Dublin, artists' studios are dotted and clustered in unusual settings: faded Georgian buildings, renovated stables, urban warehouses, an old mill, a hidden gem above a car salesroom, dormant council flats, an old fire station and a state of the art studio complex.

VISIT 2008 is the second VISIT event and the number of studios and artists opening their doors to the public has dramatically increased. VISIT 2008 will take place across two days, with half of the studios opening on Saturday and the other half opening on Sunday. We wish to encourage the public to make their own way around to the various locations or, if preferred, there are options for tours on both days to facilitate the visiting experience.  Supporting the artistic communities in the heart of the city is important for the cultural pulse, energy and vision of Dublin City. VISIT 2008 gives you the chance to see for yourself the creative spaces often unseen by the public.
